Gabion Rock and Caltrans spec: This is an example of how a lightweight Gabion is used as a wall to contain the LWF over an area that will support traffic lanes. The area is in a marsh, and has a sensitive ecologic area adjacent to it. An added benefit is that the water going through the fill and around the gabions will be filtered before finally going into the marsh. This is an example of three distinct applications: substructure (freeway support) and behind the wall application, as well as a lightweight in-place wall. |
